Long Passing

This is a Level 2
session on long passing was submitted by pre2dal.
Organisation
• Grid 30 x 10 yards
• 3 players per grid, one of which acts as a server.
Practice
1. The player with the ball plays a one-two with the server before
performing the designated long pass.
a. Low driven pass.
b. Swerve pass.
c. Outside swerve pass.
d. Chip pass.
e. Long lofted pass.
2. Server should then put some pressure on player with the ball.
Key Points
1. Body position.
2. Part of the ball.
3. Part of the foot in contact with the ball.
4. Follow through.

Progression
• Three teams of 4 players (figure 3).
• Teams in the end zone have to make three passes before they perform
the designated long pass.
• One defender is allowed in the end zone, but he/she should be passive
to begin with.
