happens when X team regains possession
Progression- Coach makes coaching points in a structured manner then
allows more free play to check player progress and understanding.
Key
Factors
Players must be aware and understand, by playing with their heads up
when start situations for their team occur.
From
wide positions:
-midfield players must make runs to support the ball and also take
screening players away.
-forwards must at all times once possession is regained adopt an
attacking position from where they can see the ball - their marker -
their support player -the goal (seeing the goal might not always be
possible)
-one foward at least must be in a position to catch out defenders and
stop them from being compact as a team - whether in possession or not.
Responsibilities
of players playing from deep areas:
-Can the ball be played early up to central attackers - this will depend
of movement of midfield players
-Can the ball be played into midfield wide areas and then be supported
-GK and defensive unit must be aware of their defensive positions when
they are in possession and supporting play
Responsibilities
of front and midfield players:
-Once they receive the ball and are in space, can they react positively?
-Once they receive the ball and are pressured, can they maintain
possession?
-If they receive the ball and are in situations where the risk is
acceptable, can they be positive and use creativity?
End
product - to establish patterns of passing play that will on a regular
basis achieve entry into the attacking third.
