A positive afternoon, I had a call from the guy who heads up SSGs at the FA. He was very positive and said that they agreed with sentiments on the site and may well support the day. We have also heard that from a couple of the regional guys.

All your emailing has really helped as he said thay had been inundated from all over the country.
Upwards and onwards!

I think Paul and everyone else should be very proud of what they have achieved in such a short space of time. I take my hat off to you all!

A little drop of the hard stuff tonight is in order I think!

I have just heard that a student from Manchester Metropolitan University (exercise and sport science) for his degree topic is studying the 'Give us back our game' campaign. Lets give him something to write about.

I am meeting the guy from the Uni down in Southampton on Monday.
He has been very supportive and had meetings with the PFA, Football in the Community and Manchester United last week.
All support the GUBOG initiative and Manchester United may get involved in the day physically or letting us have one of their training facilities for the day.

Watford have shown an interest and Dave Godley (Rodders) who some of you know is coaching the U9s as well as being the skills coach at Watford. He has started 4v4 at the devlopment centres and this weekend they are playing Ipswich Acadmey U9s 4v4s (3 games)

It is happening.
Please keep emailing and getting the web link out there.

I need your input guys and dolls
After the day what?

My own feelings from experience, looking at the forums and from coaches emails and calls is this;

U6s - simplified version of 4v4
U7s/U8s Can be together - 4v4 different games
U9s/U10s Can be together -4v4 diffent games
U11s 8 or 9 a-side
U12s - 11 a side.

No leagues until U11s or 12s.
All 4v4s either in house at clubs or with invited teams with the same philosophy.

Leagues appear to be a major contributor to the win at all costs policy. What we are really talking about as the alternative is street football in a safe environment.

Kids ref themselves, no coaching only encouragement

+ potential 4v4 centres, just pay and play???? (sport centres etc)

Primary Schools 4v4 either in house or with invited schools.

It will be very difficult to bring it in at once. So clubs/teams have the choice is they want to opt out straight away or stay in mini soccer.
Then a phased introduction at 6s/7s/8s at start of 2008-2009.
That will work through so by 2010-2011 season all present mini soccer teams will be playing 4v4.

Coops,

What happens at U11 then, 6v6? What cannot be right would be to go from 4v4 to 11 a side at U11. It also needs somethinking about.

Personally, although possibly at odds a little with other on here I believe you need to starting upping the amount of players on each team to perhaps 7v7 at U10.

Whether anyone likes it or not, it still needs to be acceptable to the masses otherwise good idea or not it won't fly and everything will just stay the same.

Just my thoughts, not meant to stir anyone up, just trying to be pragmatic.
