Paul,

should we be the ones making fun of the S word (the original not Kev's other usage)??? After all that S word originated in England of all places whistle

Willy, the corruption of 'Association Football' was BECAUSE the US already had a sport called 'Football' (even though the hands are used 99% of the time).
So, taking that theory Pointy Football should be called...
RICCA shouldnt it? laugh

read these somewhere, not exact quotes but what parents should ask their kids after a game/training:

Did you have fun?
Tell them that you love them.
Ask them what they want to eat or drink

Fun, love and food/drink...what more does a kid need!

Andy,
I make a point of talking to young players who may be affected by parents who, lets just say, struggle to control their emotions.

I explain that their parents love them for WHO they are and not what they do. Soccer is what they DO and is not who they are.

I then try to suggest to parents that they say to their children..."We love you BEFORE you play...we love you AS you play...and we'll love you AFTER you play"
Obviously I gauge the receptiveness of parents before but generally the response is positive.
