ESPN rankings are out. in Knasas #1 Aquinas, #2 SMNW #3 BVW. Rockhurst #2 in Mo. any thoughts.

Surprised STA is ranked #1. I wonder if the ranking is based upon last year's finish. Little carry-over from last year's team with the exception of a few starters. JV team was decent but not great. Too many positions to fill unless they have an influx of new talent. I like SMNW and they could be a contender for 6A. BVW, similar to STA, but I think their JV team had more talent and depth. Well in about a month it should all start to take shape.

I think BVN will be very tough to beat. 2 really strong defenders, a good goalie and some good midfielders with speed. BVNW will also be strong with a very good senior class and a couple of good juniors. BVW should also been strong with a solid defense and speed up on top. Aquinas will be an unknown because I don't think they have the depth but they will have a tough defense and a good goalie. SMNW, Olathe South, and Shawnee Mission East also look very tough and either one of them could easily win their conference and state!

EKL looks wide open this year with no true favorite. However, do any of these teams look likely to be a 6A state champion? Last season would be pretty hard to match with 2 EKL teams in the 6A finals.

Even in a down year (relatively) Aquinas will still win 5A unless Liberal can finally get'em.

Liberal lost some good talent but still have strong nucleus. If em plays they will be tough on offense. Em will be best hs forward in state. Em did not Play in state last year.

Didn't EM lose his HS eligibility???

He could not play after tryout last year. Not certain on rules if it also carries over to this year. Em is the real deal. Keep in mind liberal beat 6a state champs bv in game at maize last year without em playing. If em could have played at state last year liberal could have been champs in 5a

In 6a dodge best midfielder vr still recovering from injury at state last year.
VR was midfielder last year on 93 odp team. Great skill player. Dodge midfield will be strong with vr, ah,mh and v. Dodge best gk ar did not play at state last year. He returns this year. Dodge lost vm who was one of best forwards in state and aa who was team leader on defense. They will be tough to replace

I think Wichita Northwest might be the sleeper out of the top 10 overall. Not just because they're from Wichita, but the fact that 9 out of their 11 starter's return from last season's 3rd place team and they got a boost to their scoring ability by getting a transfer from Maize.
